Ideal for families and small active groups. Wellstrand House is a stone built cottage in the heart of beatiful Rothbury, a perfect base to explore all of Northumberland.
The spacious main bedroom has a wondeful 6-foot wide sleigh bed, the second bedroom can be set up as a twin room or another double and finally there is a double sofa bed in the living room. The bathroom is upstairs with a shower/bath.
You can curl up in front of the open fire in the cosy living room which has a wide variety of books, games as well as a TV and DVD player.
The family kitchen is fully equipped with range cooker, washing machine, microwave and full sized fridge freezer. There is also a good-sized dining table. The kitchen leads to a small pleasant courtyard garden, with a rear gate leading down towards the riverside park.
Rothbury is a lovely little town nestling in the Coquetdale valley with easy access to all of the Northumberland coast and countryside. Within Rothbury there is a wide selection of shops catering for the needs of both the local community and visitors. There are good food shops selling local produce, teashops and four pubs serving home cooked food if you prefer to eat out.
Rothbury has a newly expanded 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, a mini soccer pitch and a children’s park. The countryside is on your doorstep to explore on foot or by bike. Secure bike storage or bike hire can be arranged.
The larger towns of Alnwick (with its Castle and Garden) and Morpeth are a short drive or bus ride away. There are interesting National Trust and English Heritage properties nearby: Cragside, Brinkburn Priory, Wallington.
Newcastle is only 45 minutes away by car and has loads of things to see and do, not least the new Sage Music Centre and the Baltic Art Gallery.
Gas, electricity, bed linen and towels are included, there is on street parking.
